Net Insight delivers equipment for Digital Terrestrial TV network in Eastern Europe

Net Insight has received a new order for building the transport network in the Digital Terrestrial TV network (DVB-T) in a small country in Eastern Europe. The transport solution of the network will be based on Net Insight´s Nimbra platform. The initial network will consist of seven Nimbra nodes and with a potential of expanding the network in the future.

With Net Insight´s Nimbra platform the TV signals will be transported from national broadcasters, via optical fiber and radio links to the transmitter sites located across the country. The network will be installed and go operational in June 2006.

“This order is quite small, but we are experiencing a great interest for Net Insight´s solutions for DVB-T which is very satisfying”, said Fredrik Trägårdh, CEO of Net Insight. “Net Insight has previously delivered equipment for several Digital Terrestrial TV networks in among others Denmark, Finland, Germany, and the Netherlands.”

The benefits of Digital Terrestrial TV (DVB-T or DTT) are among others lower operational costs, a higher picture quality and the possibility to transmit up to four times more TV channels on the same frequency range. The market for DTT is growing rapidly and more than 50 countries are considering to switch from analogue terrestrial TV to Digital Terrestrial TV.
