Charleston Antique Restoration Classes Announced

Charleston Antique Restorations announced today that the 2012 master antique restoration classes will begin on January 16, 2012, and will be held every other week thereafter throughout the year.

The classes are offered by Colonel R. L. Whitmer who was honored and inducted into the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels by Kentucky Governor Collins for his outstanding restorations of the Senator Henry Clay Home and furnishings, the home and furnishings of President Ulysses S. Grant, and other National Registry of Historic Places.

Col. Whitmer is a fourth generation master antique restorer with a forty year history of antique repair and restoration for museums, historic hotels and inns, National Registry of Historic Places, Presidential Homes, and private collectors.

Attendees will learn through hands on experience the Old World techniques for cleaning, repairing damage, stripping, touching up scratches, French padding, waxing, and the application of Old World period finishes on antiques and historical woodwork.

The restoration classes are six days in duration and are held in beautiful and historic Charleston, South Carolina, the antique capitol of America.

The class fee for the six days is a very affordable $850.00 which also includes up to five hours of future consultation.
