Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Baudette Plant Awarded Governor’s Safety Award

Marietta, Ga. – Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced today that its Baudette, Minn. manufacturing facility received a Governor’s Safety Award from the Minnesota Safety Council for excellence in workplace safety and health.

“The safety and health of our employees is a top priority in everything we do,” said Mike Dornhecker, vice president of manufacturing and operations, Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. “This award from the Minnesota Safety Council is a testament to the efforts of each and every employee to help make our facility a safe working environment.”

“On average, nearly 300 Minnesota workers are injured or become ill from job-related causes each day,” said Carol Bufton, president of the Minnesota Safety Council. “Smart employers like Solvay Pharmaceuticals understand that a commitment to safety contributes to the health of their employees and the bottom line.”

Solvay Pharmaceuticals is one of 191 employers (out of 447 applicants) who were recognized at a recent luncheon at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Since 1934, the annual Governor’s Safety Awards have spotlighted Minnesota employers with above average safety records. Participants submit injury information which is compared with state and national data, as well as the entrant’s past performance. Ongoing safety programs and activities are also considered.
