Lindenhurst Braces Provider Buying Patients’ Candy to Donate to Care Packages for Service Men and Women

LINDENHURST, ILLINOIS - Whether kids have a stash of Halloween candy or adults have extras after their hand outs, the Lindenhurst braces providers and pediatric dentistry specialists at Affiliated Dental Specialists want to buy it from them.

They are hosting the second annual Halloween Candy Buy Back on November 1 from 3 to 6 p.m. at both of their office locations. Dr. James Orbon, a kids’ dentistry expert, says each pound of candy will yield the patient a dollar, up to five dollars.
“Candy is horrible for dental health and braces, which is why we advise avoiding it. We use this event as a way as a fun way to minimize those detrimental effects,” said Dr. David Maddox, a pediatric dentist.

The dentists were very pleased with the success of last year’s event, according to Dr. Cameron Wagner. He said, “The patients brought in a total of 448 pounds of candy, which we were able to donate to a great organization.” The candy was sent to Operation Gratitude, an organization that sends care packages to U.S. Service Members deployed in hostile regions or recuperating from wounds at a transition unit and to their children at home.
