Canada Post has been ranked favourably on a list of Canada’s Best 50 Corporate Citizens for the third year in a row by Corporate Knights magazine. This award is recognition of our dedication to social programs, environmental initiatives and community involvement.

“We are very proud of this recognition by Corporate Knights, one of the most highly recognized sources of objective reporting on corporate citizenship,” says Phil Ventura, Canada Post’s senior vice president of strategy. “From ensuring the health and safety of employees to raising money for charities, supporting Canadian communities and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, our ultimate goal is to create a sustainable Canada Post that provides value to its customers, its employees and all Canadians. Together, we are making a big difference at work, in our communities and for the environment.”

The annual list of Canada’s Best 50 Corporate Citizens is compiled by Corporate Knights™, an independent company that publishes the world’s largest circulation magazine with an explicit focus on corporate responsibility. Corporate Knights compiles the Best 50 Corporate Citizens list using a ranking methodology that recognizes companies concerned with long-term stakeholder value, and those with a true connection to the people and places they employ, affect and serve. Other factors include financial metrics, diversity in corporate leadership, and corporate management of taxes, pensions, labour relations, governance, and environmental and social concerns.

Some of Canada Post’s other achievements include:

*Raising more than $2 million for United Way™
*Reducing CO2 emissions from buildings and fleet by 14 per cent since 2002
*Purchasing 30 alternative-fuelled vehicles including the first all-electric Ford Transit Connects in Canada
*Donating 1.3 per cent of pre-tax profits to charities and non-profit organizations
