Solvay Pharmaceuticals Sales Director Honored as Industry Rising Star by Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association

Marietta, Ga. – Debbie Griggs-Smith, a sales director for Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc., was honored as an industry Rising Star by the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association at its 2006 Woman of the Year luncheon on Wednesday, May 10 in New York.

HBA Rising Stars are rising professionals in various sectors of the healthcare industry, including pharmaceutical, biotechnology, advertising, public relations, medical education and market research, among other fields. Griggs-Smith is currently the Cardio-Metabolic sales director responsible for the West Region sales team at Solvay Pharmaceuticals. In this role, she develops and executes sales and marketing strategy and tactics and leads a team of six district managers and 64 sales representatives.

During her 21-year career with Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Griggs-Smith has worked in a number of roles. Most recently, she served as product manager on both the gastroenterology and men’s health brand teams. Prior to her marketing roles, she spent 10 years in sales as a representative and district manager. She has also worked in human resources and began her pharmaceutical career as a chemist. Griggs-Smith earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Miami and received her MBA from Georgia State University.
