UVDI Nominated for Prestigious Award by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal

Recently, UltraViolet Devices, Inc. (UVDI) was notified by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal that the company has been nominated as part of the publication’s 2011 Family Business Awards.  UVDI is one of 56 local California companies nominated this year by the journal.
 
The Family Business Awards recognize business and professional achievements made by local family owned businesses. Five specialty awards are also being given in the following categories:
• Best Family Owned Business – Small Employer
• Best Family Owned Business – Medium Employer
• Best Family Owned Business – Large Employer
• Best Family Owned Business – Innovation Award
• Best Family Owned Business – Fastest Growing
 
UVDI is one of the oldest and most respected ultraviolet germicidal disinfection (UVGI) companies in the world. It all began with the hard work and ingenuity of one man. Three generations ago Louis Veloz was an engineer for Westinghouse when its R&D engineers developed and patented the first commercial ultraviolet lamps. Mr. Veloz was excited by this new technology and in 1949 purchased a Westinghouse UV lamp dealership. Early applications were difficult to develop, but the founder had a vision of how ultraviolet light might be widespread and effective.
