Live Music Ventura Main Event: Lee Scratch Perry with Soul Spaceship at Majestic Ventura Theater

Ventura, CA (Ventura Live Music) September 4, 2011 --  Live Music in Ventura gets exciting with the start of Fall as Lee Scratch Perry and Soul Spaceship perform at the Majestic Ventura Theater.  This looks to be one of the best evenings for live reggae music in Ventura County for September. Lee “Scratch” Perry is a musician, who has been influential in the development and acceptance of reggae and dub music in Jamaica and overseas.  Along with producing some of the most influential acts (Bob Marley & the Wailers and the Congos to name but two) in reggae history, Perry’s approach to production and dub mixing was breathtakingly innovative and audacious -- no one else sounds like him -- and while many claim that King Tubby invented dub, there are just as many who would argue that no one experimented with it or took it further than did Lee Perry. 

Opening band Soul Spaceship (www.soulspaceship.com) combines hip hop, reggae, funk, rock, house and world rhythms into song formations via ancient alien alchemy.  Interplanetary groove messenger DJ QuestionMark is the inspirational force behind the music, which blends beats with live instrumentation.  Soul Spaceship is a local band, with members from Ventura and Santa Barbara.
