Western Washington’s Triathlon season kicks off on June 3rd with the 6th Annual Issaquah Triathlon and 5K (Kids’ Tri too!). The fun sprint distance triathlon is perfect for experienced athletes starting their 2006 racing season and short enough for novices starting out on the tri circuit. The event, normally attracting over 1200 athletes of all ages, starts at 7:30am and takes place along the pristine scenic shores of Lake Sammamish (Lake Sammamish State Park Swim Beach). Participants swim in the clear, clean water, bike along the lake enjoying the beautiful, flat terrain within the State Park for the cross-country run.

The Issaquah 5K Run/Walk winds participants through the outback of Lake Sammamish in King County on a variety of trail surfaces (think cross-country!). Participants follow along Issaquah Creek and can expect to be joined by majestic Blue Herons (a rookery is nearby). Experienced runners enjoy this unique 5 Kilometer course which provides a perfect place for friends and families to have some fun and get some exercise.

The Kids’ Triathlon is a great way for younger athletes to begin participating in the lifetime sport of triathlons. Recommended for children between the ages of 6 and 12 (with an extended course for the 10-12 age group), the children’s course is completely within the State Park boundaries and accessible for friends and families to cheer their athlete on!

About the Issaquah Triathlon:
We’re moms, dads, and kids of all ages. We’re the friends and families of Arbor Schools / Eastside Montessori Education Foundation (EMEF), a non-profit 5013C organization. We love being outdoors and lifetime sports like running, biking, swimming, and triathlons. Our main goal for the Issaquah Triathlon & 5K is to get your whole family outside enjoying these great sports together. This event is also our primary annual fundraiser. Proceeds help provide books, computers, sports education and scholarships to Eastside Montessori school kids. So join us for this fun event and help your family and ours! The Issaquah Triathlon is supported by Arbor Schools, Triumph Multisport, Footzone, Rowley Properties, TalkingRain, Johnsonville, Panera Bread, PCC Natural Markets, Swedish Medical Center, Costco, and Home Depot.
