Presentation to focus on central role of transcoding in storage, playback, streaming and sharing of tactical FMV, in new and legacy systems

Sunnyvale, California, - VITEC, a leading provider of advanced video solutions, today announced that on Wednesday August 17, Bill Cassidy, Associate V.P. of Optibase Sales at VITEC, will speak about Complete Tactical IPTV Systems at the “Beyond the Booth” Symposium at the AUVSI Unmanned Systems North America 2011 Show in Washington, DC.

Mr. Cassidy’s presentation will focus on workflows that enable acquisition, streaming and dissemination of both legacy and new, high quality FMV by an integrated, end-to-end IPTV solution. He will discuss the adjustments that are necessary for existing networks in order to handle HD as well as SD video, and cover the features of tactical IPTV system encoders that are necessary to support dissemination of high quality FMV content throughout the battlefield and beyond.

Mr. Cassidy will present technologies for retrofitting deployed drones to support KLV capabilities and RF feed encryption, which are being integrated in new drones at production. He will also review workflows that enable data storage, indexing, retrieval and collaboration, and discuss how KLV-enabled transcoding and recasting devices enable tactical IPTV solutions to disseminate FMV that meets the needs of users in all locations, using any devices.

The presentation will also touch on the importance of moving to easily deployed FMV ingest and playback systems that are cost-effective, work in virtual environments, and can be set up quickly, rather than high-end systems that require deployment of tens or even hundreds of servers.

Other key features of tactical IPTV systems that Mr. Cassidy will touch on include:

*Quality of service, adherence to standards and interoperability
*Remapping unicast to multicast to maintain transmission flow
*The importance of transcoding capabilities in ensuring that content can reach all users, ranging from the Command Center to soldiers on the move
*Support for real-time viewing, metadata and the types of video necessary for real-time feels and recording missions
