Save Money with Con Edison Air Conditioning Rebates

WEBWIRE

NEW YORK – Con Edison’s Green Team said today that over 19,000 New York City and Westchester County residents have received rebates for purchasing energy efficient air conditioners and central a/c systems this year, and have netted over $300,000 in energy savings.

The company reminds customers that $30 rebates are still available for customers who purchase ENERGY STAR® room air conditioners this summer. They can also receive up to a $600 rebate for installing high-efficiency central air conditioning equipment. Homeowners may also be eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $500 and other manufacturer incentives.

Cooling and heating costs the average homeowner about $1,000 a year - nearly half the home’s total energy bill. Increasing energy efficiency is a great way to save money while reducing the strain on our natural resources. Going green can save you some green.

These Green Team programs have helped New York City and Westchester County residents save 2215 megawatt hours of electricity equaling over $332,250.

“Whether you cool your home with a window air conditioner or if you have central air, Con Edison has a rebate to help you save money this summer.” said Cristina Coltro, Con Edison program manager. “If your air conditioner is more than 12 years old, replacing it with an ENERGY STAR qualified model can cut your cooling costs by 30%.”

All residential customers in New York City and Westchester County are eligible for the Room Air Conditioner Rebate program. Residential customers who live in one-to-four family homes in New York City and Westchester County are eligible for the Heating and Cooling Rebates for Homes program.
