Codengo Buys Javaground Platform from Myriad Group.
Zurich based Myriad to become first alpha customer for revamped platform.

Sydney NSW (August 9, 2011) – Codengo (www.codengo.com) announces that it has acquired the assets of Javaground, Inc., one of the original pioneers of mobile games porting.

Founded in 2001, Javaground (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Javaground) was the mobile game industry’s leading provider of mobile application development tools for the creation of video games for mobile devices. It was used extensively by a large range of games developers including Sony Online Entertainment, Capcom, Namco and Indiagames.

Codengo will offer mobile game developers a comprehensive solution that eliminates cross platform coding; significantly reducing the time and costs of building games for multiple mobile devices. The former Javaground suite can port games onto a range of mobile platforms including the iPhone, Windows Mobile, Android, and BREW.

“We spent over a year doing research and due diligence on the Javaground platform and came away convinced that this platform offers a range of benefits for developers that no one else in the market is offering” said Matthew Griffiths, Founding Chairman of Codengo. “Porting for games is the most complex of the porting challenges in mobile and now Codengo will be one of the best in the world at addressing this challenge.”

Revenues from mobile apps are expected to grow from $4.1bn in 2009 to $17.5bn in 2012, with nearly 30 billion application downloads are predicted for 2011. The rise of the iPad, other tablets, as well as the Android platform generally, has reduced the dominance of the iPhone, and led to an exponential increase in demand for solutions to port applications and games across mobile platforms.

As part of the agreement, Codengo has also signed up the Myriad Group as its first enterprise client. The Codengo team is now looking for further partners and testers prior to the official launch of the new platform later this year.
