Charles Newton, TestAmerica’s Laboratory Director for the Mobile, AL laboratory, and Bosco Ramirez, Corporate Operations Director, will present insights on environmental monitoring measures and on-site laboratory capabilities stemming from Emergency Response (ER) events. The presentations will be held at the 2011 National Environmental Monitoring Conference (NEMC) on August 17th in Bellevue, WA.

Mr. Newton will review the utilization of critical and fundamental quality control, and sample integrity precautions related to Emergency Response efforts. The technical procedures that should be considered to safeguard from real-time environmental issues, analytical delays, and ensuring data usability will also be discussed.

The second technical session led by Mr. Ramirez, reveals the operational requirements and challenges that impact the ability for successful on-site testing during Emergency Response events. These occurrences often trigger the need to collect data for environmental impact and human health risk assessment. Mr. Ramirez will provide an overview of the logistical and timing demands that can be overcome with an on-site laboratory.

The NEMC is the largest conference focused on environmental measurements in North America. The conference brings together scientists and management from Federal and State agencies, the regulated community, academia, and laboratory and engineering entities. NEMC has been co-sponsored by the NELAC Institute under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. EPA.
