TestAmerica’s Industry Expert Provides Status on 2012 Incremental Sampling Methodology Guidance Draft

WEBWIRE

Dr. Mark Bruce, TestAmerica’s Technical Director at the North Canton, Ohio laboratory, will address the latest developments on the current Incremental Sampling Methodology (ISM) guidance draft. The presentation will be given at the 2011 National Environmental Monitoring Conference (NEMC) on August 15th in Bellevue, WA.

For the past three years, Dr. Bruce and the Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council (ITRC) team on ISM have developed a national guidance draft with the purpose of improving the quality of site characterizations. Under the technical session, Advanced Clean-up and Sample Prep Technique, Dr. Bruce will provide a current status of the drafted guidance related to systematic project planning, field implementation, laboratory sample processing, and regulatory acceptance of ISM data. The Department of Defense (DoD) has also been a significant contributor to the ITRC team in the development of the methodology. The ISM guidance document is expected to be released in early 2012 with the availability of Internet-based and classroom training sessions shortly thereafter.

Dr. Bruce has more than 27 years of analytical chemistry experience and serves as resident technical expert for method development and modification. Recent analytical advancements led by Dr. Bruce involve arsenic and mercury speciation, vapor space organics, and incremental sampling methodology.
