Beatles Tribute Show Rain to Close July 31

Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles on Broadway will play its final performance at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on July 31, well ahead of the previously announced closing date of September 4.

The show’s original 13-week engagement opened on October 26, 2010, at the Neil Simon Theatre, and was scheduled to run through January 2. After closing on that date to accommodate the previously booked Catch Me If You Can, Rain re-opened on February 8 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. The show has struggled at the box office as of late, grossing $245,902 for the week ending July 17 and playing to 51.72% of capacity.

Part concert and part theater, Rain sets the mood with ‘60s film footage and television commercials, and four actor/musicians become John, Paul, George and Ringo to play the music of the Beatles live, from their early days and breakout appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show through later albums such as Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Abbey Road and Let It Be. The currently running national tour of Rain is scheduled through spring 2012.

Rain stars Joey Curatolo, Joe Bithorn, Ralph Castelli and Steve Landes, who shares his experience of becoming John Lennon here.(http://www.broadway.com/shows/rain-tribute-beatles-beginning-2810/buzz/157093/imagine-being-john-lennon-rains-steve-landes-on-bringing-a-rock-n-roll-icon-to-broadway/)
