FUJIFILM NORTH AMERICA IN HAWAII AND CONERGY HOST SOLAR PLANT DEDICATION CEREMONY

State Senator Mike Gabbard Honors Fujifilm, 21st Century Technologies and Conergy; and Japan Consulate Representatives Attend

Honolulu, Hawaii, (July 15, 2011) – FUJIFILM North America Corporation hosted a traditional Hawaiian Dedication Ceremony yesterday at its regional office in Waipahu, Hawaii to commemorate the installation of Conergy’s premium solar panel PowerPlus system, by local clean-energy integrator, 21st Century Technologies. With 1,455 PowerPlus solar modules, the solar installation will produce 483,391 kWh annually, which is equivalent to reducing CO2 emissions by 1.11 million lbs per year or powering 66 households per year. It is the first Conergy PowerPlus plant installed in North America, and is one of the top ten largest solar power systems in Oahu, Hawaii.

Hawaii State Senator Mike Gabbard was in attendance to personally present solar energy awards to the three companies.

“Mahalo to Fujifilm in Hawaii, 21st Century Technologies, and Conergy for their commitment to sustainability, energy conservation, and making our world a cleaner, greener place. I hope that they can inspire other companies to follow their example,” said State Senator Gabbard, who is also Chair of the Energy and Environment Committee.

Also in attendance were State Representatives Denny Coffman, District 6 and Henry Aquino, District 35; Tim Ming, from the DBEDT Energy Division; and Kazunari Tanaka, Deputy Consulate General and Yukako Asamura, Economic Affairs Section, Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu.

In an effort to reduce energy costs while keeping its corporate commitment to sustainability, Fujifilm chose to install Conergy’s premium solar module, PowerPlus, on its Hawaiian regional office. With this installation, Fujifilm will realize a substantial cost savings on its current energy usage. In addition, the company will be able to take advantage of the utilities net energy metering program, which will provide ongoing benefits. Globally, Fujifilm has a Greenhouse gas target set at 30% reduction in CO2 emissions by Fiscal Year 2020, as compared to 2005.

“This project began in response to Fujifilm’s corporate mission of energy conservation and Greenhouse gas reduction,” said Ray Hosoda, President and CEO, FUJIFILM North America Corporation. “With the urgency and concern about saving the environment and resources, this project is especially important to Fujifilm as we do our part in helping to preserve the lush, beautiful surroundings in which we work and live.”

The Fujifilm installation is the first project under Conergy and 21st Century Technologies new strategic partnership. “We are thrilled to have been a part of this project. Our experience with Conergy has been tremendous. They provided a number of key elements to make this installation a success: engineering, top quality components, and in this case, financing. And to be able to serve an international company like Fujifilm has been a real pleasure. From the first meeting on, we knew that the Fujifilm staff were committed to not only ensuring that this was economically viable but that the project also followed Fujifilm’s commitment to being more energy responsible. Again, it was our pleasure to have done the installation,” said Myron Thompson, CEO of 21st Century Technologies.

Carl Campagna, Conergy’s Regional Account Manager in Hawaii and Oahu resident, said, "Conergy offers Hawaii local expertise backed by global strength. As Hawaii is leading the country in solar energy with the goal of reaching 70% of it energy needs through clean energy sources by 2030, we are dedicated to the continued growth of the Hawaiian solar energy market, and are looking forward to future growth on the island. I believe that our product portfolio offers both companies and homeowners who are looking to go solar a cost-effective and environmentally sound solution.”
