Recruitment Agency Stops Charging Fees

A legal recruitment agency in London has stopped charging success fees and instead relaunched as a recruitment club for legal employers.

Jonathan Fagan, MD of Ten-Percent Legal Recruitment explained: “Since we set up back in 2000, clients have called to ask why we charge such ridiculously high fees for placing candidates. Legal recruitment agencies are regularly ridiculed for simply sending out a CV, arranging an interview and getting paid £7,000 plus VAT for placing a solicitor. We are getting away from this completely, offering combined recruitment agency, job board posting and CV database services to all our members for no charge.”

The service, launched on Monday 11th July is probably the world’s first recruitment club offering free recruitment to all members. Employers pay £60 a month to join. Members can access the 8,000+ legal CV database, post vacancies across a range of job boards and agency websites, book locums and receive the full Ten-Percent Legal Recruitment agency service.

Fagan added: “We want to undercut job boards and recruitment agencies, develop stronger long term relationships with our clients and provide a genuine low cost internet service that ensures our company’s long term goal of being the number one recruitment service for the legal profession within five years. In time we plan to roll out the same service for financial advisers and accountants via our sister sites.”

“We think it is is clear that traditional recruitment agency services need to change sooner or later in the post-recession marketplace. Who needs them? Why should I want to pay so much money to recruit someone when there are online options costing so much less and with exactly the same access to good quality job applicants?”
