Mobistar remains the favourite telecom supplier of the Flemish Authorities

WEBWIRE

Brussels – Mobistar is signing the 3rd extension and expansion of its contract with the Flemish Authorities to supply telecom services to all Flemish Ministries and Agencies. The contract covers both fix and mobile telecom services, and is valid for a 7-year period. This reinforces Mobistar’s position as convergent player on the telecom market for businesses.

Since 2003, Mobistar has been supplying telecom services to the Flemish Government. Following a public tender, the Flemish Government has again granted the telecommunication contract to the telecom operator Mobistar. With this decision, the tender procedure, started in February 2011, has been successfully completed.

Mobistar carried off fix telephony as well as mobile voice and data communication. Practically, this means that over the next 7 years, Mobistar will supply telecommunication services to all personnel members of all Flemish Ministries and Agencies, the Flemish Parliament, the Flemish Government and the Flemish Public Institutions. The new element in this contract is the expansion towards all local and provincial authorities that will also be able to subscribe at the same conditions, as of early 2012.

The new contract starts on July 21st 2011 and includes:
- More than 13,000 SIM cards for voice and data communication
- Machine-to-Machine applications that have been especially developed to assist the Flemish Government in its mobility and environment policy
- Fix and marketing numbers (0800 and 078 numbers) for the Flemish Government
- The supply of mobile phones / smartphones / PDA hardware devices

Benoit Scheen, CEO of Mobistar: “We are very happy that we have been able to keep this important contract and to further extend it. This once again confirms our solid reputation with the Government.”

As for the Flemish Minister for Administrative Affairs, Local and Provincial Government, Geert Bourgeois, he’s happy with Mobistar’s efforts and the resulting savings for the Flemish Government and the local governing entities.
