May 11, 2006, Tube Lines Ltd., which is responsible for the maintenance and upgrade of the infrastructure on the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines for the London Underground, has signed a 12-year service contract with KONE involving maintenance, replacement and refurbishment of escalators on the Jubilee Line extension as needed. The value of the contract over the 12-year period is approximately EUR 195 million.

KONE completed installation of the Jubilee Line extension’s escalators in 2000 and has been responsible for their maintenance ever since. The Jubilee Line is the Underground’s newest line. Including the extension, the entire Jubilee Line covers 36 km and serves 128 million passengers annually at 27 stations between Stanmore and Stratford.
