Pace joins Business in the Community
BITC Membership helps Pace build on corporate values and responsibility agenda
Pace plc today announced that it has become a member of Business in the Community (BITC), a business-led charity whose purpose is to advise, support and challenge companies to improve the impact they have on society. BITC membership will allow Pace to further develop and promote responsibility in business, focusing efforts on the workplace, marketplace, community and the environment.
Becoming a member of BITC helps Pace to further develop its corporate responsibility programme, which has already delivered significant achievements in the environmental arena. Since 2008, Pace has achieved a 28% reduction in set-top box energy use, and has developed robust processes and expertise in environmental legislation compliance. Pace has also led industry-wide initiatives to set and comply with environmental standards across all of its global markets, including pioneering the development of standards where none exist.
Pace will collaborate with BITC to build on these environmental achievements and to develop its community involvement programme across the globe. As an initial step, Pace and BITC will work with customers and suppliers to ensure good social, economic and environmental conditions across its supply chain.
David McKinney, Chief Operating Officer of Pace, said: “Becoming a member of BITC is an obvious choice for Pace. We believe that operating responsibly helps us deliver value to our customers and our business, and partnering with BITC allows us to take this further, giving us access to the expertise and experience of its team and membership base. We look forward to working with BITC to drive ever higher standards at Pace over the coming months and years.”
Stephen Howard, CEO of Business in the Community, comments: “I’m delighted to welcome Pace into membership of Business in the Community. The sustained commitment of companies to greater leadership in the field of responsible business has never been more important. That’s why we’re here; to help companies identify where they can have most impact – positively – for people and the planet. I look forward to working with Pace on their responsible business journey.”
Established in 1982, BITC is the largest business-led coalition dedicated to corporate responsibility. BITC works in collaboration with 850 companies to create a sustainable future and improve business performance by sharing findings about driving business performance through responsible practice. Joining BITC gives Pace access to a network of leading CSR specialists to collaborate with in developing high standards of responsibility.
