Rueil-Malmaison (France) - The Schneider Electric Foundation, under the aegis of the Fondation de France, is celebrating the tenth anniversary of Luli, its international campaign to encourage Schneider Electric employees to give back to the community.

Launched in 2001, the Luli campaign aims to showcase local initiatives championed by Schneider Electric employees worldwide to support association-based partnerships and projects in the area of school-to-work transition and vocational training. Each year, Schneider Electric organizes a weeklong Luli event where partner associations can come onsite to present their initiatives and provide updates on the results, encouraging employees to make a contribution in the form of volunteer work and/or donations. It also gives employees the opportunity to mingle and exchange ideas in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, outside their daily work routine.

“Each year, Luli reaches even more Schneider Electric employees and partner associations in dozens of countries" says Gilles Vermot Desroches, Senior Vice President of Sustainable Development at Schneider Electric and Managing Director of the Schneider Electric Foundation. “In 2010, the event drummed up support for more than 80 projects in 50 countries, half of which promote vocational training in energy-related fields.”

This year, Luli will take place from June 20-24 as part of the European Year of Volunteering. Alongside the Schneider Electric Foundation, around 20 companies¹ will carry out similar initiatives, as part of the nationwide Défis Mecenova campaign led by French non-profit IMS-Entreprendre pour la Cité. During the event, “volunteer matching” sessions will be organized at Schneider Electric sites in France and abroad to present volunteer opportunities to Group employees.

Luli 2011 will end with a conference on employee volunteering at Schneider Electric’s headquarters starting at 1pm on Friday, June 24. The guest list includes Jeannette Bougrab, Minister of State, attached to the Minister for National Education, Youth and Voluntary Organizations², responsible for Youth and Voluntary Organizations ; Marie Trellu-Kane, Co-Founder and President of Unis-Cité; Henri de Reboul, Executive Director of IMS-Entreprendre pour la Cité; François Bonifacio, CEO of Capgemini Outsourcing Services France; Gilles Vermot Desroches, Senior Vice President of Sustainable Development at Schneider Electric and Managing Director of the Schneider Electric Foundation and Jean-Pascal Tricoire, President and CEO of Schneider Electric.
