Teradata Labs Achieve Major Security Certification for Database
Evaluation analyzes and tests security features used to protect sensitive customer data
SAN DIEGO - Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC) today announced that its Teradata Labs have achieved security certification for the Teradata Database 13.0 for conformance to the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation, under the requirements of International Standard Organization and the International Electrotechnical Commission, ISO/IEC 15408. This well-recognized third party certification gives government agencies and security-conscious companies confidence to deploy the Teradata Database as part of a well designed, secure data warehouse infrastructure.
Teradata successfully completed the assessment at Evaluation Assurance Level 4 augmented with Flaw Remediation (EAL4+) http://www.niap-ccevs.org/st/vid10385/.
“Teradata is intensely focused on achieving this certification for all of its major database releases because it provides our customers with confidence in the design and implementation of the security functionality,” said Scott Gnau, chief development officer, Teradata Corporation.
The rigorous assessment was conducted by a third-party laboratory under the guidance of the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme. The certification included analysis and testing to ensure that the product’s security features and development processes conform to the Common Criteria security requirements.
The principal objective of the NIAP validation body is to oversee competent IT security evaluation and validation services for both government and industry. During the evaluation, the applicant must demonstrate its ability to provide products that fulfill customer needs and meet applicable U.S. regulatory requirements.
