Speechbobble Enables National Non-Profit Initiative Focused on Youth Engagement in Politics

TORONTO, Ontario - June 8, 2011 - Canadians under 30, are typically the least likely to cast a ballot in any election. Social networking provides an opportunity to encourage those least likely to participate in the democratic process and have their voices heard through the medium they prefer and actively consume. It is this reason why Speechbobble, one of Canada’s fastest growing social software companies, today announced its support for Many are One, a national non-profit initiative where young Canadians can learn and engage in discussions, tackling the issues they care about, while having a direct channel to the political process. The initiative is being launched today during NetChange Week at the MaRS Discovery District in Toronto.

“We are pleased to be working with Many are One to support this very important social imperative that could inspire real civic change,” said Josef Zankowicz, CEO of Speechbobble. “Our social networking platform is ideal for harnessing ideas, thoughts, and insights and turning them into actions. While technology alone is not a solution, Many are One is enabling conversations with Canadian decision makers, and others deeply involved in our political culture through Speechbobble.”

Speechbobble is a fully customizable social networking platform that can suit any type of organization or community. Some features and functionalities of Speechbobble include:
• Cloud-based community collaboration and conversation platform, meant for collective idea sharing and trend spotting;
• Community applications can be launched as private intranets or open extranets to connect with participants;
• Timely feedback on issues using real-time polling, a resource repository with search, and an RSS daily feed; and,
• Platform analytics help organizations understand dynamics of internal communications to extract value and guide decision-making.

As a non-partisan organization, Many are One will aggregate the online activities of members interacting with multimedia content and share this anonymous data with research institutions and policymakers to affect political change.

The Many are One launch is being supported by Toronto-based artist and community organizer Dave Meslin; Ontario Minster of Research and Innovation, Glen Murray; along with video testaments from MP Justin Trudeau, and MP Irwin Cotler. For more information please visit www.manyareone.ca.
