DirectRooms.com – Venice Jazz Festival to be held from 22 to 31 July 2011

DirectRooms has just confirmed that the fourth annual Venice Jazz Festival will take place in the city from 22nd July to 31st July 2011. Though the festival has only been around since 2008, it has quickly grown to be one of Europe’s most prominent jazz festivals.

The end of July is an ideal time for this festival, which also plays to the atmosphere of Venice by including art exhibitions, readings, conferences and DJ sets, as well as a series of concerts from both new and well-established jazz musicians. The programme of events is continually evolving year after year.

Visitors come to the festival for the concerts, which take place in some of the most impressive Venetian venues including the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the Venice Casino, the La Fenice, Goldoni, Malibran, and Fondamente Theatres. The festival now boasts more than 100 concerts in over 40 different venues throughout the week.

Most of the outdoor events at the Venice Jazz Festival are free and take place in many iconic Venice locations such as St Mark’s Square. The early evening outdoor concert series in the Rialto’s Campo dell’Erbaria has grown immensely in popularity. The festival also features a number of jazz lunches and dinners in many of the local hotels.
