Microsoft and GXS Form Strategic Alliance to Speed and Simplify Global Business Collaboration

REDMOND, Wash., and GAITHERSBURG, Md. — May 8, 2006 — Microsoft Corp. and GXS, a leading provider of business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce solutions, today announced a strategic alliance to market innovative solutions to speed and simplify integration between trading partners worldwide. The alliance focuses on enabling B2B integration initiatives across organizations’ global supply chains, through a combination of software and services that includes Microsoft® BizTalk® Server 2006, SQL Server™ 2005, the 2007 Microsoft Office system and GXS Trading GridSM. Through the relationship, the companies will jointly market their leading B2B solutions to help ensure that organizations of all sizes, in any geography, can build real-time, collaborative B2B networks that connect their trading partners across supply chains.

Key details of the alliance follow:


GXS will employ Microsoft technology in the GXS Trading Grid to speed and simplify integration between businesses. Because GXS is using Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 and SQL Server 2005 technology in the GXS Trading Grid, customers can extend existing internal investments on Microsoft .NET Framework-based technologies outside their enterprise through seamless integration with business partners.


GXS has developed a Grid-Ready solution using BizTalk Server 2006, available to businesses worldwide. The use of Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 with the GXS Trading Grid offers businesses a unique platform spanning the desktop, server and services software they can use in all B2B scenarios to drive their success. A BizTalk Server 2006-based Grid Ready solution will be made available to the GXS customer base of more than 40,000 customers worldwide, providing them with a simplified way to integrate with anywhere from one to hundreds of business partners simultaneously.
