Rood & Riddle Utilizes Canon CXDI-70C Wireless DR System for Equine Care

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., - Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging, today announced the installation of a Canon CXDI-70C Wireless Digital Radiography (DR) detector at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, a worldwide leader in equine healthcare. Featuring cable-free image acquisition and enhanced device portability, the CXDI-70C Wireless DR System allows veterinary professionals to easily and quickly capture images of large body regions that were previously difficult to capture using traditional imaging technologies. This installation represents the first time a CXDI-70C Wireless DR detector has been installed for use in an equine hospital.

“Canon recognizes a growing need in the veterinary market for outstanding portable and high-image quality products,” said Tsuneo Imai, Senior Director and General Manager, Medical Systems Division, Canon U.S.A. “We are honored that such a prestigious facility such as Rood & Riddle has selected a Canon DR System and we look forward to working closely with them in the future as well as with the dealer who arranged this placement, Digital X-Ray Specialists, to continue to help meet Rood & Riddle’s DR needs.”

“It was a pleasure working with Rood & Riddle and we are excited to see how they utilize the CXDI-70C Wireless DR System in equine care,” added Chris Duca, president, Virtual Imaging, Inc., a wholly owned Canon U.S.A. subsidiary.

Weighing in at 7.5 pounds, the CXDI-70C Wireless DR System is Canon’s first wireless detector and is the same size as standard ISO 4090 film cassettes, providing medical practitioners with great device portability and operability. Featuring a pixel pitch of just 125 microns and a cesium iodide (CsI) scintillator, the CXDI-70C Wireless DR System provides exceptionally high-quality images while also reducing x-ray exposure to the patient.

“The advanced technology coupled with the mobility and ease-use made the Canon CXDI-70C Wireless DR system an ideal fit into our facility,” commented Dr. Katherine Garrett, Director of Diagnostic Imaging, Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital. “It has enabled us to easily and accurately capture the precision images we need on everything from 100 pound foals to 2000 pound draft horses while also minimizing x-ray exposure to the patient and streamlining the overall care process.”

Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital is a full-service equine hospital established in 1986 as a referral center for horses requiring specialized medical and surgical care.
