High-end server uses latest Intel® Xeon® processor technology to give clients cost-efficient options for mission-critical data center challenges

BLUE BELL, Pa., – Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced the ES7000 Model 7600R G3 Enterprise Server, the new high-end model in Unisys’ ES family of open servers based on the Intel x86 processor architecture.

Using the recently introduced Intel® Xeon® Processor E7 family, which can deliver up to 40 percent greater performance than the previous-generation processor,1 the new Unisys ES7000 system provides substantially more performance than its predecessor G2 model.

The new model enables intensified computing power and scalability to help clients to realize the following benefits:

*Improve return on IT investment by reducing hardware acquisition and support costs through server virtualization;
*Gain operational efficiencies by consolidating multiple servers and applications onto a single scale-up system;
*Accommodate economical data-center growth through incremental, “pay as you grow” scalability; and
*Expand application choice and availability of programming skills through a standards-based application environment.

“This latest addition to the ES7000 family demonstrates Unisys’ commitment to quickly leverage the latest advances in Intel processor technology to benefit our clients" said Rod Sapp, vice president, Servers and Storage, Unisys. “We aim to continually expand the server power enterprises need to handle cloud computing, consolidation, virtualization and other new-generation mission-critical challenges, as well as longtime data center requirements such as online transaction processing and business intelligence.”

The ES7000 Model 7600R G3 uses new Intel® Xeon® 10-core processors. The system can scale from two to four to eight sockets, supporting as many as 80 processor cores and 160 threads. It features a “glueless” design that allows for scalability from four to eight sockets without a specialized chipset or node controller – providing a cost-effective path to growth as business requirements expand.

The system can support a maximum of 3 terabytes (TB) of memory. Unisys plans support for up to 6TB of memory with the introduction of 32-gigabyte Direct In-Line Memory Modules (DIMM) in the fourth quarter of 2011.

The ES7000 Model 7600R G3 supports the Microsoft Windows and SUSE and Red Hat Linux operating environments, as well as the VMware ESX, Microsoft Hyper-V and Xen hypervisors.

The Unisys ES7000 Model 7600R G3 Enterprise Servers are scheduled to start shipping in June 2011, and will be priced from $17,100.
