BooksOnBoard’s Royal Wedding Vows Contest
Princess Diana caused quite a stir when she modified her wedding vows to omit the bride’s traditional promise to "obey" her new husband, and word is Kate Middleton has opted to do the same. Personalized vows may be common among commoners, but Kate’s--and Diana’s--assurance to "love, comfort, honour, and keep" are a rare spark of rebellion against an otherwise firmly established royal tradition.
In honor of the royal wedding, the soon-to-be-newlywed couple, and the display of spunk and individuality shown by Kate’s modified vows, BooksOnBoard is announcing a Royal Wedding Vows Contest open to anyone who thinks they have what it takes to write vows worthy of a royal wedding. Tradition and romance are welcome, but certainly not mandatory. The winning vow-writer will be announced on Friday April 29, and will receive a princely $50/£30 gift certificate from BooksOnBoard.
