Discovery Communications Expands Studios’ Reach with Top Production Houses and Producers to Develop Content for Channels Worldwide

Shine, All3 Media and WTFN Sign for two years as first production companies to this new initiative

Discovery Communications today announced the launch of a new virtual global unit as part of Discovery Studios to focus on developing major content franchises for its global channels business. Several significant global programming development deals have been signed with world-renowned international production groups, Shine Group, All3Media and WTFN as part of this new initiative.

Discovery Studios, in partnership with Discovery Networks in the US and internationally, will work with these top production partners on a non-exclusive basis to develop and commission original lifestyle, specialist, factual and general entertainment formats for Discovery’s networks around the world including Discovery Channel and TLC. Through this new arrangement, Studios commits to pilot ideas generated out of each team. Strong channel position and extensive global reach enables Discovery to maximize the distribution of its content, making the company an attractive partner for top global production houses.
