Rottenstein Law Group Now Evaluating Claims Relating to Anticipated Recall of Failing Zimmer NexGen Knee Replacement Devices

WEBWIRE

(April 4, 2011, New York, NY) The Rottenstein Law Group, which represents clients with claims stemming from the failures of defective joint replacement devices, is now evaluating cases of those who were implanted with a NexGen knee unit manufactured by Zimmer Holding, Inc.
In 2003, Zimmer, a leading designer, developer, manufacturer, and marketer of orthopedic and other medical devices, introduced the NexGen CR-Flex Fixed Bearing Knee, a knee replacement system designed to provide a greater range of motion for recipients. There were two slightly different versions of the NexGen CR-Flex developed: a cemented version (that uses an adhesive to connect the thigh bone to the device) and a cementless version (which uses natural bone ingrowth to bond). Both NexGen knee models are supposed to last 15 years, but Zimmer has come under fire in the past few years due to higher than normal rates of loosening and failure in the uncemented CR-Flex Porous Femoral component.
Although the reason for the CR-Flex Porous Femoral component’s high failure rate has yet to be determined, and there has not yet been an official Zimmer NexGen recall, a recipient might still be able to seek financial compensation from Zimmer if his or her replacement knee has been revised, or if he or she is currently experiencing pain, difficulty walking, infection or loosening of the device.
Unfortunately, recipients of joint replacement systems often don’t know which device they were implanted with. This dilemma can lead to procrastination or failure to take the appropriate medical and legal actions in a timely manner. The Rottenstein Group is imploring anyone who has undergone a knee replacement, or knows of a friend or relative who has undergone a knee replacement, to consult a physician immediately, and then speak to a qualified personal injury lawyer.
The Rottenstein Law Group maintains a Zimmer Replacement Knee Lawsuit Web site to keep the public informed about the latest developments, and the possibility of a Zimmer NexGen knee replacement recall.
