No more unpleasant surprises when surfing on your mobile phone abroad!

Brussels - Data roaming tariffs that are both less expensive and easier to control : thanks to its Travel Data Daily offer, now active by default, Mobistar enables all its residential customers to surf on their smartphone, PC or tablet without a worry whenever they are travelling in Europe, the United States or China. Travel Data Daily is a fixed daily charge of 2 MB for 2 euros, i.e. more than 70% less compared to the pay per use tariff. And as of today, large-volume roaming consumers can also opt for daily fixed charges of 10 MB for 5 euros or 50 MB for 15 euros.

Nothing is more practical than a smartphone for reading your e-mails, posting a message on a social network or keeping track of the latest news. But once abroad, consumers tend to limit themselves to only voice calls and text messages, or even block the data function on their mobile telephone entirely, for fear of seeing their invoice explode due to the data roaming. Many users still perceive mobile Internet tariffs abroad as expensive and opaque, even though there are solutions for keeping the invoice under control.

It is precisely to overcome this psychological barrier that Mobistar has decided to extend to all new smartphone users its Travel Data Daily offer, which makes it possible to enjoy 2 MB for 2 euros in the EU+ zone(1). So there’s no need to subscribe to this service before leaving on holiday or taking a business trip abroad: it’s now activated by default for all new mobile data customers (according to the “opt-out” principle). For existing mobile data customers, activation is possible via the #130# or via the customer space on Mobistar´s website.

Valid until the end of the day, as of the moment that the customer starts using roaming data services, Travel Data Daily is the ideal product for travellers who wish to make moderate use of their smartphone from time to time while abroad. For example, a volume of 2 MB corresponds to the exchange of around 200 e-mails (without attachments) or 2 hours on an instant messaging service. Up to 72% less expensive than the standard tariff, Travel Data Daily 2 MB also makes it possible to benefit from a 50% reduction compared to the pay per use tariff in the event that the quota is surpassed during the day. Naturally, Travel Data Daily is triggered only on those days when the customer effectively uses data abroad.

For those who have a more intensive consumption, Mobistar decided to add the daily fixed charges Travel Data Daily 10 MB (for 5 euros) and 50 MB (for 15 euros). Already available for business customers, these fixed charges are now also accessible for residential customers. To activate them, all you have to do is go to the customer space on Mobistar’s website, or dial the code #130# and select the desired formula.

Successfully launched on the scale of the entire Orange Group, to which Mobistar belongs, the Travel Data Daily fixed charges significantly reduce the risk of unhappy surprises for consumers. This risk is also limited by the fact that the data roaming invoice of residential users in the EU+ zone now can never exceed 60,50 euros(2), no matter what happens. Hopefully this will enable users to at last make use of all the possibilities of their smartphone, including abroad!
