Wedding bells toll good news for Newmarket Royal Breaks

WEBWIRE

The upcoming marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton has heralded a significant increase in interest in ’all things Royal’, according to specialist tour operator Newmarket Holidays, who - in addition to London tours to celebrate the happy couple’s April nuptials - offer a wide range of other breaks and coach trips with regal connections.

Though it is the operator’s Royal Wedding packages that are attracting most attention in the run-up to the Big Day - with thousands of Union Jack flag-waving enthusiasts scheduled to flock to the capital on Newmarket’s £139.00 three-day coach-inclusive tours - bookings on a range of other holidays based in and around London are also extremely buoyant, according to the company’s UK Product Director, Teresa Taylor.

“Interest in all our Royal breaks and tours has been at an all-time high over the last couple of months”, said Taylor this week.

“Whether it’s the ’feel-good factor’ generated by the news of William and Kate, especially against a background of economic gloom elsewhere, or even the fact that the multi-award-winning film of the year ’The King’s Speech’ also had a Royal theme, there’s no doubt that more people are booking than at any time since Buckingham Palace first opened its gates to the public in 1993”.

Newmarket is once again expected to host record numbers for the August and September opening of the State Rooms at the Palace, with guests on the two-day coach-inclusive or ’make-your-own-way’ breaks also enjoying the bonus of seeing the fabulous Royal Fabergé collection of the Russian craftsman’s decorated eggs.

During August, visits to the Palace are coupled with entry to the Prince of Wales’s refurbished home at Clarence House, where the exquisite John Nash building will be brought to life on a guided tour, while September departures include an escorted walk through Buckingham Palace’s famous gardens to round off the visit. Prices for the coach-inclusive breaks, which include a night’s bed and breakfast accommodation in a three-star London hotel, start at £119.95 in August and £125.00 in September, while the ’make-your-own-way’ breaks, which exclude travel to the capital but include transfers while in London, are priced at £109.95 and £115.00 for August and September departures respectively.

Newmarket’s coach-inclusive Royal breaks are completed with a trip to Royal Windsor, with a chance to visit the famous Castle, or to head across the River Thames for a glimpse of Eton College, Prince William’s alma mater.

The Berkshire seat is also the venue for the operator’s ’Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo’ break in May, with its centre-piece the pomp and ceremony of a colourful event staged to raise awareness of the role of the Armed Services in present-day conflicts. Newmarket’s two-day coach-inclusive break costs £119.95, and includes admission to the Tattoo.
