Intergraph CEO to Participate in Homeland Defense Discussion on Radiological Attack and Flu Pandemic

Government, Private Sector and Academic Leaders to Discuss Disaster Response Coordination

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., May 1, 2006 – What would happen in the event of a terrorist attack using a “dirty bomb” or an outbreak of the Avian flu in our nation’s capitol?

R. Halsey Wise, President and CEO of Intergraph Corporation and distinguished members of the government, business and academic communities will discuss that question at the National Homeland Defense Foundation’s (NHDF) Homeland Discussion Series “Who Does What: Pandemic and WMD Attack on Washington” on May 1 at Georgetown University.

Mr. Wise will be part of an assembly of industry experts representing the private sector, academia and the media invited to participate because of their expertise in disaster response and emergency management.

Panel members will include Admiral Timothy J. Keating, USN, Commander, NORAD-USNORTHCOM; Lieutenant General H. Steven Blum, Chief, National Guard Bureau; George W. Foresman, Undersecretary of Homeland Security; and Paul McHale, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense. The discussion will be moderated by General Ralph E. “Ed” Eberhart USAF (Ret.).

The Naval District Washington used Intergraph’s decision support system in the Crystal Breakers 2000 exercise, a live emergency response exercise focusing on WMD attacks in Washington, D.C. This system was used by The Naval District Washington to respond to the September 11th terrorist attack on the Pentagon. Intergraph also worked with the U.S. Army Warfighter Protection Lab to develop training simulations for responding to a radiological bomb. These simulation exercises are used at the Center for Domestic Preparedness and multiple military installations to plan their response to WMD attacks.
