Popular YouTube partner, Alissa Evelyn, has decided to launch a new channel dedicated to diabetes, recipes & diet. In the summer of 2011 she is also planning to launch her first diabetic recipe book.

Alissa currently has approx 2000 subscribers for her “AlissaEvelyn” channel which she started in March 2009. To date the channel has nearly half a million upload views.

Alissa was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic at age 11 when she had just started secondary school. Following a short stay in hospital, she then began the long process of trying to manage and understand her medical condition. According to Alissa, some of the hardest times were when she left home for University and had to manage in a college kitchen and was without the support of her family. Alissa is now a confident and happy diabetic cook, and is achieving good control of her blood glucose levels, according to her medical team.

Alissa comments: "I decided to create a new channel dedicated to diabetes & diet as this is something I am so passionate about. My own journey has been one of highs and lows, and I wanted to be able to share my experiences and recipes with other diabetics. I’m excited about the possibilities of this new channel - and looking forward to launching my first book later this year. I just love the interactions that it’s possible to have with my YouTube subscribers, which makes it all worth while.”

Asked if at age 23 she is too young to launch her own book, Alissa commented: "This is something I’m really passionate about - I love spending time in the kitchen creating new and interesting recipes with unusual ingredients. I was inspired by Mrs Beeton who also published her first book at the same age!” The book will be made available on Amazon.com and also be published via Amazon Kindle.

Alissa Carter has been writing on the subject of her diabetes since she was 18.
