Two new reefer vessels for Eimskip

Eimskip, subsidiary of Avion Group, has entered into shipbuilding contracts for the construction of two highly sophisticated reefer vessels for a total purchase price of approximately NOK 260 million (3,120 million ISK). The investment is supporting the company strategy to be a supplier of quality services in the North Atlantic. This is a part of a renewal for the fleet and making Eimskip able to transport in an efficient and secure way.

With this new fleet structure Eimskip is will be able to enter into more diversified transportation services, serving temperature controlled commodities such as meat, vegetables, fruits etc. worldwide

The new ships will contribute to the extensive transport network in the North Atlantic Ocean of Eimskip and Eimskip-CTG, its subsidiary in Norway. The company received one reefer vessel last year and will within one year receive three vessels ordered in 2004 and 2005. There are therefore a total of 6 reefer vessels being built for Eimskip since end of 2005.

The vessels will be built at Myklebust Verft AS in Norway and delivered in July and November 2007. The ships will be owned by Eimskip and operated by Eimskip-CTG.

The new vessels will be 80m long and 16m wide. Their maximum cruising speed will be 16 nautical miles per hour, and their deadweight will be 2,500 tones. They will have substantial loading and discharging capacity, about 200 tones per hour.
