Award-winning portrait artist Chris Saper unveiled her commemorative portrait of Daniel T. Cloud, Jr., M.D., one of Arizona’s most dedicated health and medical leaders, on February 24 at the just opened Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

“Dan Cloud was my friend and colleague for 27 years. Painting his posthumous portrait was a rare opportunity for me, since it was both a corporate and a family portrait,” said Saper. “I was privileged to work closely with Dr. Cloud’s family to include symbols of their special memories as well as Dan’s professional achievements.”

Showcased in the portrait are the honorary ring he received as President of the American Medical Association and a desk in the background of the painting, which holds a framed photo symbolizing his devotion to his family, the novel he authored and yearbooks from the university and medical school he attended.

Chris travels widely throughout the US and has completed more than 300 private and corporate commissions. Saper’s work has garnered numerous local and national awards and has been widely exhibited. In addition to her commissioned portrait work, she is an active author, instructor, and public speaker.
