Oversight Risk Consulting Launches Chatter – Web Based Software for Managing Security Risks
BOGOTA, Colombia (March 1, 2011) – Oversight Risk Consulting announced today the launch of Chatter – their new web based software designed to help security and risk professionals manage security risks. Chatter combines two powerful internet technologies - geospatial information systems (GIS or digital maps), with Social Networking (or P2P) to allow clients to exchange security based information around the globe.
Mike Faessler, the founder of Oversight designed Chatter with a team of software developers in Colombia. Mike said: “As a security professional I’ve bought, sold and used just about every security information service available in the marketplace today. Consistently I found that other subscription services were lacking in content, and didn’t allow me to consume the information over time. I had no continuity of information in the locations where we operated. So, I set out a year ago to build a better solution. I believe we have achieved that.”
Chatter’s social networking functions allow users to exchange data with trusted colleagues outside of their organizations. Faessler commented, “Security events are shared within Chatter’s digital maps, allowing users to exponentially increase their baseline of information in any given location. We think this represents a quantum leap forward in how organizations will use and manage security information.”
Chatter is designed around four modules – the first is the powerful digital map with filters where users can post, track, communicate and filter data for later analysis. As Faessler says, this provides real continuity of the situational awareness.
Additional modules in Chatter guide users in translating security information into something more meaningful for managers, executives and decision makers. Chatter follows the ISO 31000 methodology for risk management, applying those principles to the security sector – helping users identify and manage security risks wherever they may operate. Users gain a centralized view of all their security risks. Faessler adds, “The utility of Chatter goes well beyond all competitors. Besides knowing what is happening – security and risk professionals increasingly have to communicate in terms of estimating the security risks that could affect an organizations people, assets and corporate reputation. Data alone is not the answer. The value is in the ability to interpret it. If Chatter helps clients do that – then we have hit the bulls eye.”
Faessler is a retired US military officer and West Point graduate. He has worked 12 years in Latin America in both the government and private security sectors. Before forming Oversight Faessler was the VP of Global Security for AngloGold Ashanti and previously an Operations Manager for Control Risks’ office in Bogota.
