Coming Attractions at the 27th Annual Artexpo New York

NEW YORK, NY -- Feb. 7, 2005 -- Artexpo New York, the world’s largest premier fine and popular art fair, will hold its 27th annual exposition, March 3-6, 2005 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. This year’s theme, “A World of Art Awaits. Be There.” says it all. Artexpo New York showcases work for all tastes and styles while offering art for both first-time and experienced buyers, priced from $500 to $50,000. Also featured at Artexpo New York is the popular SOLO, a pavilion of emerging, independent artists representing their own work, looking to be the next great one.

Over its 27-year history, Artexpo New York has helped propel the careers of some of the finest American artists of the 20th century, including Andy Warhol, Peter Max, Robert Indiana, Leroy Neiman, Robert Rauschenberg, and others who went on to fame and fortune in the art world. SPS Limelight Agency will be debuting the never before seen works of Janis Joplin in their booth!

World Renowned Sports Celebrity Artist Stephen Holland will debut new works covering more mainstream celebrity such as Frank Sinatra and Steve McQueen.

Come and experience The Art of Ronnie Wood. This international superstar of rock will be showcasing his works on The Rolling Stones, Hendrix, Rod Stewart, Jack Nicholson and many more of his celebrity friends.

Don’t know what to do with the kids this weekend? The Cat in the Hat is Animazing Gallery’s Special Guest making a rare personal appearance for Saturday and Sunday, all day. AENY 2005 has offerings for the little ones in the form of our Animation Pavilion. This is where children will be wowed by the art of Sponge Bob, The Simpsons, Batman, Superman and many more animated favorites!

Peanuts animator Bill Melendez will be appearing on Saturday from 11:30am until 1pm. Mr. Melendez will debut four new hand-inked hand painted limited editions featuring classic scenes from the holiday specials like “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and The Christmas Special. It is the first release of limiteds from The Melendez Studios since 1995. Bill Melendez partnered with Charles Schulz to animate the Peanuts comic strips for television.

Chuck Jones’ Center for Creativity is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering and encouraging the expression of artistic creativity among young people, using the drawings, films and writings of legendary animation director Chuck Jones as inspiration. Come and experience never before seen original line drawings of Bugs Bunny, Pepe le Pew, The Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote amongst many more created by the legend himself. A once in a lifetime opportunity.

Celebrity Lovers...do you want to know what they spend their money on in the art world? Artist Bill Mack, whose clients include Former President Bill Clinton, Sly Stallone, and Elizabeth Taylor, will be sculpting with a live model! His Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sculpture is currently on display in the NBA Hall of Fame.

Come see today’s emerging artists show of their talents to the industry...Last year SOLO exhibitor Hamilton Aguiar was discovered by the Nan Miller Gallery and signed 14 contracts. Who knows, you may even see one of this year’s SOLO artists become the next Warhol right before your eyes!

Pet lovers, come and shake paws with ’Fidel’ (Therapy Dog that made numerous trips to Ground Zero and is featured in Ron’s book, “The Dogs of Ron Burns”. Ron will also have other dogs from the Good Dog Foundation to help Ron sign copies of the book........Times: March 4th&5th 12:00pm-2:00pm. Search & Rescue Dogs will also be making special appearances at the booth. Ron is the first and only Artist in Residence for the Humane Society of the United States. Artist Ron Burns will be unveiling the portrait of Elizabeth Taylor’s dog, Sugar, as commissioned by the Hollywood legend. Monies raised from this portrait will go to “Whispering Hope Ranch”.
