Donation Delivers on Pledge to Give $1 for Each AT&T eBill Activation

San Antonio, Texas, April 27, 2006, AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced that it has contributed more than $520,000 to The National Arbor Day Foundation through its recent campaign to encourage residential and small business customers to sign up for its AT&T eBill service and to opt out of receiving paper bills. In July 2005, AT&T pledged to contribute $1 for each new eBill activation with the cancellation of paper statements through March 31 of this year.

Since the campaign’s launch last summer, more than 400,000 trees have been planted in national forests as a result of AT&T’s contribution to The National Arbor Day Foundation. Over the course of their lifetime, these trees will provide an environmental and economic benefit worth nearly $65 billion. Annually, more than 36,000 trees are saved through the use of AT&T online services.

“We’re thrilled with the success of this program. With the support of more than a half million people, we were able to help repopulate our national forests while communicating, in a creative way, the many benefits of managing accounts online — from added flexibility and control in making payments to reducing paper waste,” said Denice Hasty, assistant vice president of AT&T Online Services.

“AT&T’s dedication to this program is especially commendable because it not only has contributed to tree-conservation efforts in the short term but also actively engaged consumers in changing their lifestyles in a way that benefits the environment over the long term,” said John Rosenow, president of The National Arbor Day Foundation.

The AT&T eBill site, www.youratt.com/destination/tree, was recognized by MarketingSherpa for its creative campaign to allow site visitors to “plant” a tree in a growing online forest in celebration of their eBill activation. They were also able to send e-mail messages to their friends and family members, encouraging them to do the same.

AT&T eBill subscribers were eligible for several program sweepstakes prizes, including the grand prize 2006 Toyota Prius hybrid car, awarded this April. Previous giveaways included $100 gift cards to Home Depot and all-inclusive trips for four to six destinations: Savannah, Ga.; Sequoia National Park in Calif.; Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, N.Y.; Arbor Day Farm in Nebraska City, Neb.; Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C.; and Yellowstone National Park in Wyo.

Additionally, AT&T has been awarded for its leadership in the cause of tree-planting, conservation and environmental stewardship with The National Arbor Day Foundation’s 2006 Promise to the Earth Award.

Founded in 1972, The National Arbor Day Foundation is a nonprofit organization established to help people plant and care for trees. It is the largest volunteer tree-planting organization in the country, encouraging people to plant millions of trees through its Trees for AmericaĂ’ program.

AT&T eBill service gives subscribers secure online access to current statements, payment options and archived account histories — anytime, anywhere — for all services combined on their AT&T bill, including AT&T local, AT&T long distance, AT&T Yahoo!® High Speed Internet, AT&T | DISH satellite television and Cingular Wireless services. Enhanced features include the ability to view the name and contact information of dialed persons, as well as the option to sort statements by numbers called, length of call, place, date or cost.
