WEBWIRE

TestAmerica’s Michael Flournoy, Technical Director of the West Sacramento laboratory, will demonstrate new analytical technology and procedures that definitively detect Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products (PPCPs) in various stages of the wastewater treatment process. The presentation will be given on February 16th at the 2011 Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH) Technical Symposium at California State University - Northridge.

TestAmerica has developed methods to detect PPCPs at trace levels in environmental samples. Combining multiple analytical techniques, including isotope dilution, solid phase extraction and state of the art instrumentation, TestAmerica is capable of detecting and identifying the PPCP compounds present at all stages of the wastewater treatment process. The application of this technology enables treatment facilities to reduce PPCP contamination entering our water supplies and the environment.

“The application of our technical knowledge and skills to assist the industry in pioneering solutions to one of today’s most important wastewater process challenges is an exciting and rewarding endeavor for TestAmerica,” comments Dr. Keith Wheatstone, Chief Operating Officer, TestAmerica Laboratories, Inc.

Mr. Flournoy has over 20 years of environmental laboratory experience and is TestAmerica’s technical expert on PPCPs. He has actively contributed to the specialty method development of steroids, hormones, antibacterial products, over-the-counter (OTC) medication, and other Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products (Modified EPA Method 1694 and 1698).
