NEW YORK – The Associated Press, the world’s leading source for news and information, offers a nimble solution to publishers and other customers to bring their online audience the red-carpet excitement of the Oscars and the Grammys. AP Live 2011 Awards Season provides two months of entertainment news, interviews, and live streaming from the red carpets of Hollywood’s biggest award shows.

AP Live, powered by Livestream, is available two ways: as a widget embeddable on any website and online at www.livestream.com/aplive.

“As the AP demonstrated with its Golden Globes coverage last month, the AP Live platform is the single source for customers to provide their online viewers with the best coverage of award shows and celebrity interviews,” AP Global Director of Entertainment Products Michael Dutton said. “Viewers got into the red-carpet action for the Golden Globes. We expect publishers and other customers to return to us for the Grammys and Oscars so their viewers can once again get the kind of access they can’t get anywhere else.”

Viewers can interact in real time directly with journalists on the red carpet of the Grammys and Oscars by sending in their questions through Facebook (www.facebook.com/APLive) and Twitter. AP correspondents on the red carpet with handheld devices will relay the information directly to celebrities.

Awards season coverage kicked off in early January with the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards nominations and runs through March. AP Live’s first-time coverage of the Golden Globes is still available online. As it did with the Golden Globes, red carpet coverage will begin two hours before the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 13 and the 83rd Annual Academy Awards on Feb. 27. AP Live coverage also includes a multimedia interactive, on-demand video, reactions from the nominees, fashion commentary, and a behind-the-scenes look.
