Hollywood heavyweights Laura Linney and Al Pacino, both currently starring on Broadway, were among the winners at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards, presented on January 16 in Los Angeles.

Linney, who is finishing up her run in the acclaimed Broadway drama Time Stands Still, won a Golden Globe in the category of Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series - Comedy Or Musical for her work on the Showtime series The Big C. Time Stands Still closes on January 22 at the Cort Theatre.

The Merchant of Venice star Pacino won his fifth Golden Globe Award for playing Jack Kevorkian in the HBO movie You Don’t Know Jack. Unlike Linney, Pacino was on hand to accept his award, as The Merchant of Venice is currently on hiatus until February 1. The acclaimed Shakespeare revival will run at the Broadhurst Theatre through February 20.

Also of interest to Broadway fans is the win by Glee in the category of Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical. Series regulars Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch also won in the featured acting categories.

Presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Golden Globe Awards honor the best in film and TV.
