Qualcomm Announces Leadership and Organizational Changes

WEBWIRE

SAN DIEGO – – Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies, products and services, today announced organizational changes.

Global Business Operations (GBO), previously referred to as Global Business Development, will be led by Jing Wang as executive vice president of Qualcomm and president of Global Business Operations. The GBO organization will include all of Qualcomm’s international business-focused offices, including those in China, Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, and Southeast Asia. This organization will continue to focus on enhancing the business environment to support the continued growth of Qualcomm’s technologies and products.

A new organization called Global Market Development (GMD) will be led by Peggy Johnson, as executive vice president of Qualcomm and president of Global Market Development. The GMD team will lead the process for commercializing new business opportunities that reside outside of an existing Qualcomm business unit. This involves formalizing a structure to assess the value of new ideas through strategic review and business modeling, developing a commercialization plan, negotiating agreements and contracts with partners and determining the ideal long-term placement for the new business as it grows. The team will lead this effort across Qualcomm’s R&D groups, coordinating cross-functionally with the business units and the GBO organization.

Both Jing and Peggy will continue to report to Steve Altman, president of Qualcomm.
“Over the last ten years, our Global Business Development teams have achieved incredible success and created strong relationships with industry partners,” Altman said. “Consolidating the Company’s strong international presence under Jing will increase efficiency and enhance our international operations capabilities, creating greater synergies between the regions as we grow our operations. At the same time, establishing the GMD organization under Peggy will enable us to better coordinate strategy and execution across the company as we look to commercialize new technologies, services and products outside of our established business units.”
