Intuit Health to Demonstrate Patient Portal at DC Technology Policy Exhibition

Presentation Illustrates How Patient Portals Help Providers Meet ’Meaningful Use’ Requirements

WASHINGTON, D.C. – – Intuit Health, the health care business division of Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU), will demonstrate its patient portal and electronic bill payment solutions at the 14th Annual Congressional Internet Caucus Advisory Committee Kickoff Technology Policy Exhibition on Jan. 11.

The Tech Policy Exhibition, the largest and longest-running event on Capitol Hill, will take place in the Hart Senate Office Building and highlight some of the significant issues that will affect policy making in the 112th Congress. It includes hands-on demonstrations of the latest technologies in healthcare, privacy, digital content, parental controls, education and cyber security that will shape debates and offer possible solutions.

Dr. Warwick Charlton, Intuit Health’s chief medical officer, will showcase how Intuit Health’s online patient portal helps patients receive timely access to their personal health information easily and securely, a requirement of Meaningful Use. Patient portals are also improving communication between patients and their doctors, while making physicians’ offices more efficient, lowering their costs and increasing patient satisfaction.

More than 3 million patients and 33,000 providers currently use Intuit Health’s portal about 100,000 times each day. The online solution enables patients to quickly request appointments, pay bills, refill prescriptions, complete medical forms, receive lab results, conduct virtual office visits, and exchange messages for related care and administrative issues with their provider’s office.

Physicians can use the portal’s secure data export function to provide patients with timely access to their health information by connecting to the electronic health record via integrated or non-integrated methods. Once posted, patients can access their health records anytime, either from the provider’s Website or directly at Intuit Health’s Website.

Charlton will also demonstrate Intuit Health Bill Pay Premier, the company’s online solution that makes it easier for patients to understand and pay their medical bills. The product has shown to help providers get paid 18 days faster than conventional methods.

The annual tech exhibition brings cutting-edge technology demonstrations to Capitol Hill that illustrates the power and flexibility of the Internet as a medium for communications, commerce and democracy. Attendees include Internet industry and nonprofit representatives, leading academics and government policy staff.
