Kemira and European Investment Bank (EIB) signed EUR 100 million reseach and development loan agreement

21 April 2006, Kemira Oyj and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have signed today a EUR 100 million 12-year research and development loan agreement. The facility relates to Kemira’s reserch and development programs and technical engineering activities during the years 2004-2007. The loan can be raised 18 months after signing.

The project, more specifically, covers the expenditures at the group’s two Corporate Research Centres, located in Espoo and Oulu, which provide special know-how and equipment to support and supplement the R&D efforts of the group’s various business units. Further included are the expenditures incurred by the development projects carried out at the group’s “competence centres”: i.e. Water Research (Oulu), Recycling (Helsingborg) and Wood Fibre Line (Vaasa). Finally included is the development work for active business operations are decentralised at the R&D organisations of the Business Units e.g. at Tikkurila, Vaasa, Pori, Helsingborg, and Stockholm.
