Forbes Solicitors Predicting Increase in UK Divorce Cases

WEBWIRE

Traditionally the number of new divorce cases in January is always high but Forbes Solicitors are predicting an even bigger increase this year.

Historically couples wait until after Christmas to divorce for many reasons - for the sake of their children, so as not to spoil their Christmas holidays or simply due to spending more time in each others company than usual.

However this year’s divorce rate is predicted to be even higher due in part to the current economic crisis. Financial pressures on a couple caused by the credit crunch can put further strain on a marriage that may already be struggling.

Judith Wright, Head of Family and Divorce Law at Forbes Solicitors in Preston said, “Due to the financial difficulties, clients may have been more cautious in the last 12 months about turning to a Solicitor for assistance as they have been reluctant to spend money on legal fees when that money could have been put to use within the family home.

However, due to the slight rise in property prices, we are expecting to see an increase in the number of new divorce cases as those who have decided to separate may now be a bit more confident that they can sell their home and move on.”

Forbes Solicitors has 35 partners, 9 offices and more than 355 staff. For a free consultation about Family Law or Divorce please call freephone 0800 037 4628
