Keep Our Military At Home in Our Hearts this Holiday Season

ARLINGTON, Va. – As we decorate trees, wrap presents and celebrate the holidays, let us not forget the thousands of troops deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq and other overseas locations who are left only to quietly remember the food and fellowship this holiday season brings. Separated by miles and mission from their loved ones, our troops continue their selfless service in defense of the liberties we hold dear.

This holiday season and throughout the year, the USO provides critical support to those who need us most, including forward-deployed troops, wounded warriors, military families and the families of the fallen.

* Home for the Holidays: USO airport centers in Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, Pensacola and Columbia, SC, will operate around the clock from Dec. 17-23, welcoming thousands troops as troops go home for the holidays.
* Holidays with the Troops: Dedicated USO employees in Afghanistan and Iraq will stay in country to make sure our men and women in uniform have the best holiday season possible. Another USO center director has made the holiday a family event, bringing their mom and dad to work at the center on Christmas.
* Celebrate the holidays: Holiday parties at USO centers serve as support groups for military families whose loved one will be deployed during the holidays. Food, fun and prizes for the child in all of us.
* Birthdays from the Pacific to the Battlefield: USO Hawaii and USO Baghdad have worked together to coordinate a birthday celebration for a husband and wife. A soldier will receive a birthday cake from her husband (who is in Hawaii) on Dec. 15 through a coordinated effort by the USO and AAFES.
