Play65 Backgammon Partners with EBGT 2011

The largest online backgammon room, Play65 (http://www.play65.com) has announced collaboration with the biggest international backgammon association, the World Backgammon Association (http://www.world-backgammon-association.com/) for the 2011 season of the European Backgammon Tour (EBGT). “I am very proud and excited of the upcoming season” said Daniel Mester, co-founder of Play65, while WBA president, Chiva Tafazzoli, announced that “The European Backgammon Tour 2011 is going to be bigger, better and richer than ever.”

Play65 backgammon room will be the exclusive provider of online qualifiers for the eight-stop European Backgammon Tour, as well as its highly expected Grand Finale. For the first time, Play65 online backgammon players will accumulate the same ranking points (“Masterpoints”) as their offline backgammon fellows by playing Play65/EBGT satellite tournaments. “Most importantly”, said Mr. Mester “Play65 and WBA collaboration will bring together the online and offline backgammon worlds, plus provide exceptional value to our players.” “I am glad that Play65 and World Backgammon Association have joined efforts to promote backgammon more globally”, agreed Mr. Tafazzoli.

The fifth season of the successful European Backgammon Tour will include eight stops in different backgammon locations, starting in Turkey on February and closing in Cyprus on Cyprus. Each EBGT tournament will be preceded by a Play65 online qualifier, where the winner will be granted with a free entry to the corresponding event, while the finalist would receive a VIP status and enjoy the accompanied benefits for a month. The EBGT Grand Finale – where the best players in online and offline backgammon will compete for the € 15,000 grand prize, will follow a series of monthly satellite tournaments, expected to start by May.
