New location in Switzerland will offer global air and ocean freight solutions

Berlin/Essen/Bern - As of the beginning of 2011, DB Schenker Logistics will have a presence near its customers in the Swiss Mittelland. Schenker Schweiz AG is now opening a new location in Bern, almost 169 years after the company’s founder, Gottfried Schenker, was born in the canton of Solothurn. The office will initially specialize in global air and ocean freight solutions.

“Switzerland has always played an important role in our European network due to its location,” said Karl Nutzinger, Member of the Management Board of Schenker AG responsible for Land Transport and the European Region. “But we think there is further potential to expand the market position of our national company considerably, especially in land transport and logistics,” he added.

“We are certain that our presence in the Swiss plateau will attract new clientele and that we will significantly increase our market share in this area with our proven solutions,” said Jörg Eggenberger, CEO Schenker Schweiz AG.

With over 500 employees and ten locations, Schenker Schweiz AG, which is located in Zurich, is one of the leading providers of integrated logistics on the Swiss market and is well integrated in the global DB Schenker network.
