Telecom Asia Readers’ Choice Awards acknowledge outstanding services capabilities

Nokia Siemens Networks has been awarded ‘Best Managed Support Services Vendor of the Year’ by Telecom Asia, recognizing its outstanding capabilities in providing services support for network operators. The award was presented to Andy Wong, head of Services, Hong Kong, Nokia Siemens Networks, at this year’s Telecom Asia Readers’ Choice Awards in Hong Kong.

“This award reaffirms that putting the customer first, is the only way to succeed,” said Wong. “Our customers have confidence in our service capabilities, as we help them free up resources to put greater focus on their core business of satisfying customers. The award clearly indicates that customers appreciate our efforts.”

Nokia Siemens Networks has made significant strides in managed services over the past one year. Some of its big ticket wins in the APAC region include Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA) and ICON+ Indonesia.

VHA is outsourcing its overall network operations in a unique seven-year contract with Nokia Siemens Networks. Under the agreement, Nokia Siemens Networks has combined two existing operations organizations and consolidated two core networks. Under a three-year contract with ICON+, Nokia Siemens Networks is providing end-to-end services including those services such as fault management, configuration and performance management offered by its remote Global Network Solutions Centers (GNSCs).

The company also has significant managed services wins in India. Currently, it services networks with approximately 167 million subscribers in India for seven major operators (Bharti Airtel, Datacom, Idea Cellular, Maxis, Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL), Uninor, Vodafone Essar) across 22 of India’s 23 telecom circles.

Nokia Siemens Networks is a market leader in managed services with more than 290 managed services contracts in mobile and fixed networks. It currently manages networks of about 148 operators around the world with a combined subscriber base of over 400 million. Over the past years, Nokia Siemens Networks has gained significant experience in building, planning, operating and optimizing networks and services. The company has transformed the way these capabilities are delivered remotely through its unique, consolidated and centralized global delivery model in order to increase efficiency and quality of the network. Today, it remotely manages 520,000 network elements and 180 million subscribers.

When the telecom industry is witnessing consolidation, an increase in network sharing agreements, and co-existence of fixed and mobile technologies, Nokia Siemens Networks is helping operators reduce complexity and operational inefficiencies arising from multi-technology, multi-vendor networks. The company has delivered managed services for fixed, mobile, transport and value-added services enablers to 117 multi-vendor networks, and is servicing over 60% of network elements for key network infrastructure suppliers globally.
